Editorial: GHC and EPIC: Health care innovators in our own backyard

MADISON, Wis. – There were a couple of stories this week that speak to both an industry approach to the counterproductive health care politics played in Washington, and the impact the greater Madison region’s health care sector can have in what health care looks like in the future.

The first was the annual users group meeting at Epic Systems in Verona, where CEO Judith Faulkner walked some 17,000 Epic software clients and company employees through a vision for the future of unlimited potential for technology’s impact on human health. It was an impressive commitment to global health and evidence of Epic’s sustainability.
